Active Stretching Article
Posted: 10-31-2008An interesting article on the topic of Active vs Passive Stretching as pre-workout tissue preparation was published by the New York Times website. It is for the reasons outlined in this article that for years I have incorporated into my own training a pre-workout warm-up routine that utilizes active stretching through calisthenic, elastic band and running/agility ladder exercises. I feel that it is preferable to reserve passive stretching aimed at increasing flexibility for post workout activity.
